This week's been hectic, so hectic that I'm thankful for the
long weekend. This week I had to hand in my
art coursework and decide my
subjects for sixth form (yikes) This was a tough decision not only because I had to decide which
five subjects to drop, I only got two weeks to decide this. The teachers have also made this decision sound so very crucial because 'it decides your final career.'
Finally got the candygrams and rose-a-grams on Monday. Wasn't too happy about the unwrapped roses, they were too thorny to hold and my locker didn't have any space due to the two huge art books and pe bag I had to fit in.
I am excited about this week, I'll be getting art exam questions! I know this is weird but I enjoy doing artist research more than experimenting, because when it comes to experimenting, I hate it when my experiments don't work out and I still have to stick it into my book. It becomes quite an eyesore as a result, so I have resorted to doing experiments on loose sheets rather than in my book.
I have finally finished the book Camille lent me, '
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.' It's a really poignant story of how a little boy who grieves for his dad who was killed in 9/11. He's quite precocious, in a sense but I think the last sentence of the book summed up the reason for his inventing.
In the end he wishes he could turn back time so he and his dad would have been safe. A tree just fell on across the main road near my house. The house just got renovated, and the tree fell onto the new roof they put over the kitchen. Scary how a short afternoon shower can do this.

The party was fantabulous, except not that much of a surprise in the end. :D There were THREE PRO PHOTOGRAPHERS, haha snap-snapping away, but these are some photos. Yesterday was my first day out with my new camera.

Sarah Barnes, whom i will miss a lot. I'll miss her doctor's daughter way of talking, how she's the authority of healthcare :D i'll miss her in english. I'll miss her on casual day, when she comes in platforms and towers over everybody else.

Then came the other surprise, we blindfolded Rosie and set cupcakes that Ling had baked in front of her. They had icing (which she made herself) with jellybeans stuck on and sprinkles all over. Very yummy. She should contribute to the bake sale. I like the second picture, Rosie looks very happy. :)

fifteen tomorrow. Happy Birthday again! :D

guess who called by my house today.
it's the CONSmen.
they called by about three times, once in the afternoon and once at night.
the news has broadcasted about this, but still they dared to do this...
i think almost everyone we know have got this call.
it's apparently a filipino lady's voice, according to mum.
the EXAMs are over. maths and chemistry are over and done with.
camille's a smarty-pants, she managed to beat tat meng at bio, haha
(it's not a one off, camille.)mr lopez decided to tie a noose round nurul's teddybear's neck- one of those me-to-you teddies. now it looks really miserable. he did it with such skill that it would make you wonder where he learnt it from.
now that the exams are over, we got ice-cream again. but still gotta study because wednesday's the GCSE bio exam, the official external ones. apparently we've got the tail end of a typhoon again, that's what's been causing the rain. not fun, so much rain that i don't feel like going out at all.
and now, i've got an entire list of things i want to do, so i'll leave you with a little inspiration.

midwich cuckoos was good, it would be a shame if you didn't watch it :D
(SPOILER!) the eyes were creepy, the staring was creepy and the smartness of the alien kids were just freaky. I mean, those kids could kill just with stares, make people do things their way by staring at them and freak people out. how many times have we hoped that just through staring we could kill/cause people to go nuts? morbid.
even mr flynn said he couldn't sleep so well after that. haha.
next week is earth week. no inspiration for any photography regarding this topic, will have to wait and see. now, for some photos. today we went to bukit shahbandar for geography coursework.
drank coconut juice, but not sustainable because the containers are plastic, use of resources- oil! to create plastic.
this is the menu. somehow found it rather quaint.
there was a playground and maze thing we went to. went in despite the sign saying '12 and below.' (and we're fifteen. haha. can you see the guys in the background?)

the macro of the day: the acacia seeds. non-sustainable, and invasive or feral species. survives fires while other species of plants don't, so they are invading into the bruneian rainforests. (sounds alien-ish- 'invade')
californian pine trees. unsustainable again. the pine needles make the ground so very acidic that nothing else can grow.

i've been told my previous layout had problems in the other browsers like Safari,
godzilla mozilla firefox. Not so sure about netscape, i bet my dad's the only one using that now.
So, i'm back to the conventional layout- the everything on one page layout.
the social was quite fun, the music was better than the last. I think the people who didn't go lost out on some decent music, but you can't blame them, they've gained a phobia of bad socials since the previous one. the previous one had some odd music, not exactly ones you could dance to, but this social at empire had some 'danceable' oldies- like dancing queen, don't worry, be happy. And to finish it off, 1 song for the couples.

CHMS- the new building

Yesterday I went to this Christmas and New Year celebration at CHMS’s Darussalam Hall. At first it was rather boring, then this band went onstage and started playing music that rendered us unable to hear anything around us.
Being ‘kiasu’ my parents had came straight on the dot at seven, but closer examination of the program revealed that the actual eating started at 8.10! After awhile some people from YF came, so the company around our table didn’t turn out so bad. However, wasn’t able to go over and talk as the chairs were quite cramped around the table, so I was unable to pass over the other side and talk. Ended up counting down the moments till we got to dig into the food.
The food was yummy but it was really quite difficult to eat with just a spoon. Later, went with Cindy, Ying Lin, Stephie and Bing Cheng to the new block.
The new block is really quite big, about four floors with many classrooms and labs. During my time in chms there weren’t many opportunities in CHMS to conduct experiments. Now the new science labs in CHMS, appear well equipped, one desk per student each with a Bunsen on the table, ready. There are even primary science labs. To think that when I moved over to JIS some people were quite surprised that I barely knew how to use a Bunsen!
Besides that they have a larger airy-looking library, reading rooms and even a balcony that Cindy has dubbed ‘the ultimate place for couples.’ There were many girls’ toilets around, (already dirty) and several rooms such as a Geography room, Commerce and Maths room and English room. Wonder what exactly they are going to do in all these rooms… are they going to take the place of classrooms?

i've had a bad day, i'm in a terribly bad mood.
first thing in the morning, i got victimized by mr L again.
then later for art we had a switch-around, a musical chairs game round the class.
for the lazy people to 'get inspired' by the other hardworking ones.
then for pe we did a 1.2km run. not fun.
then in maths we did surds. can't make heads or tails of it, so i got in a bad mood again, as i always get annoyed when i can't understand things in maths.
then after that i got my shirt dirty during lunch. stupid, huge pasta things that ought to be in a lasagne instead of being in big chunks put with sauce. blame the canteen food, once there was even kueh tiaw passed off as linguine as someone's meal. ugh.
then in music we just sat around, but after school was when things started to get worse.
i went to teh office with sarah and found camille there. then i decided to check my phone.
this was when i found out
MY RABBIT IS DEAD, according to my sister who had sms-ed minutes ago.
more specifically,
one of them.
when i got home, i found it on hutch lying as though it was sleeping, but it was not.
its breath was coming in ragged gasps, and its mouth was stained with blood.
the worse bit is when i saw its back side. apparently covered in mucus, and it seemed that its guts had been forced out of its bum. its bum was swollen, the rest of its body where you'd expect the guts to go was just airplane runway flat.
the other rabbit was just looking on. i don't know if animals can sense the coming of death, but it seemed to be saying last goodbyes. but even with that, my other rabbit must be devastated his hutch-mate is dead. he sniffed the other rabbit so now the maid says he's 'unclean.' but anyway, we brought him into the house. now we've got to take him to the vet.
now the thing is... you might ask why i didn't take the other rabbit to the vet.
firstly, again- i can't drive, really wish i could.
i didn't believe the maid when she said the rabbit looked sick. the rabbit had always been skinny. she belonged to a maid next door who had to leave. since we had just one rabbit, and a guy, why not give him a companion? the maid next door had fed the rabbit like veggie leftovers, so it wasn't fed well and hadn't a good started in life in the first place. but it did fatten up after the many meals a day the other rabbit ad been having.
according to the maid's kampung views, it appears the rabbit must have had a miscarriage of some sort (it's a girl) but it didn't work out, so the dead foetuses* must have 'poisoned' the body in some way or another. what a way to finish off a rabbit. now i don't know whether the other rabbit's going to die missing the other rabbit. im mad at myself too, because now i can't even find a picture of my rabbit to finish off this blog post.

Everything seemed okay when I started out the other day

"these walls"A lot of things happened today, how shall i begin?
I'll start off by saying that i had double english to begin with, and fortunately i haven't had a go yet. There were several interesting talks such as a
leprechaun one by nurul, one on
Paris Hilton by Maryam and another on
Emos by one of the malay guys in my class. Let me quote some.
"Emos are characterized by a layer of fringe covering one of their eyes (holds up visual aid) or hair covering the entire front of their eyes(hold up another visual aid). "(on this sentence, i quickly put my fringe behind my ear, to avoid being labelled this emo thing.)
"There are three categories of emos, first are the real emos who are actually feeling miserable, the next are the ones who are emo to be cool, the next are ones that just dress emo."
"And apparently it is cool to cut yourself, but personally i think it does just the opposite."
"You can find emos everywhere, primarily around the Gadong area hanging around in The Mall cutting themselves in a dark corner to release their pain."
"and there are several solutions on how to solve this emo problem. The first has already been done, people have been trying to make the emos think positive. The second, my own recommendation is to leave them be and let them drown in their own misery."
I tried my best to quote his heavy sarcasm. Oh well. There were some bits i didn't agree about: i think emos don't wear colourful clothes, they dress like goths, as dark as possible. And what about the skinny jeans? No skinny jeans because people might think you are emo?
Next was pe. My last pe lesson for the whole week. Swimming again.
Then there was chemistry, when we made our wonderful cold cream emulsions. Weiwen and I teamed up and made mango hand lotion. (it wasn't hand-cream anymore as it was overly watery) Then he made salad dressing to end the emulsions lesson. Classic emulsions are egg yolk containing things and things like mustard and detergent.
Then i went with Kyung to the canteen. And this is what we saw.
a snake wound around the roof beam that had come out, sunbathing and oblivious to the crowd that had gathered below it. For all you know, it could have lived there for some time, except that no one ever noticed and it kept itself in the little crevice in the roof the whole time, only coming out occasionally to sunbathe.
In DT class, i am now convinced that Microsoft Publisher hates me, it never prints anything properly. hmmph.
oh, i'm joining the duke of edinburgh thing, hoping to learn another language because it sounds fun. =) also, if i could i wish for someone to do netball with me..... any takers? There'll also be a casual clothes day coming up soon =)

Exam Results

I've been floundering around on the internet waiting for the JIS website to work because my server has problems, apparently. So, the AQA GCSE Science June 2007 Results come today. It didn't work at 1pm.
uh-oh. Exam results and all the nerves.
refreshed and refreshed the page zillions of times till it got through.(spending one hour doing other things in the process) Then around 3pm i got through to the jis website. I went straight to the link given on the sheet and proceeded to type the candidate number, then the character access code.
Then i pressed enter.
then waited for it to load. Bit by bit, it loaded. Then i went back to multitasking. Coming back, later, i found the results on the page. =) so yeah. I'm not going to post my results here, but i must say it was pretty good. but one last thing on the page caught my eye,
All results are provisional and subject to confirmation by the issue of a certificate. Immediately called mum, who'll tell dad later. Going to miri tomorrow for sis' braces appointment and for a little excursion to someplace other than brunei.
Countdown to school: around three days? not including today.

Laptop

My laptop is finally here! =) I'm on it now and it runs pretty slowly, slower than mum's dell laptop, but still it's my very own and for me to personalize.
Last weekend was quite a rushed weekend but it was pretty much okay. it was youth sunday and we had to perform a song, "I know where i'm going."
And also, *sniff* stephie is LEAVING! (leaving for Rhode Island, US) Dad asked at the dinner table yesterday , "
where is stephie going to study?" i answered "
rhode island" and he commented that
"many people who go to Rhode Island become POLITICIANS.
" so, stephie, if you decide that you don't want to do law anymore go become a politician. It'll be cool to see you on TV giving a sentaor's speech. =D

Grrr. Today's been a particular
tiring day. I went to the beach this morning till about two in the afternoon, but only when i got home the real
trauma started.
Was really tired, slightly burnt (in a more polite way- "
sunkissed") so i slept and napped for about an hour, then when i got down, snacked on chips then went off to work on stuff- props for the skit and blahh. I decided to download my camera pix of the day because i only have two memory cards completely clogged up with previous events- the baptism, pictures of the kampung chicken at grandma's.... I downloaded one lot of photos from one memory card, then when i tried dowloading stuff from the second one i was greeted with the message of
DISK C is FULL and running critically
low on disk space: aka,
ZERO mb. I had to delete several programs only then everything would get in and properly downloaded.
Once the photos were downloaded,i was in the mood for blogging, planning this would be a lovely
PICTURE POST. The computer defied me once again when my pendrive refused to be detected by the USB port. (i used the usb because no wireless internet on the computer, if not it's really slow) I tried dad's pendrive, thinking there was something wrong with my pendrive, and when it didn't work i tried mum's portable hard disk. Wouldn't detect either, so i tried it on the laptop, which i am on now.
My pendrive works on the laptop. Though i feel like churning a whole lot of forbidden, colourful words at this very moment, i will
try restrain myself. Thus, i will try doing something else that will probably be less frustrating ad more productive then a particular annoying square-box-ish "
automating" machine. I'll post my picture post some other time when i'm feeling a little less
moody or when the computer works or when i cool off...
PS: Mayanne, i don't think i'll be able to pass you the photos tomorrow.

wanderings about town & my 3rd layout

I went to Tasek with my parents and sister, one of those occasional in-frequent trips when i feel really unfit. So, i have been sitting in front of the laptop/computer most of the time, folding my legs underneath me which is supposed to be "bad" for me... and with that I induced knee pain so i spent my time round kiulap yesterday climbing stairs painfully. Now i know how it feels like to be an old person with horrible knee pain.
Oh yes, yesterday's trip was really quite fun, minus the back-street wanderings where weirdos await to ambush unsuspecting people. Chefs peeping out from kitchen peepholes, people hiding round corners. As quoted, GET A LIFE. (harsh.) Mayanne and I wandered about looking for interesting places to go, most of the shops having clothes that fit but did not suit our wallets. So we ended up in Coffeezone with a mocktail and a basket of calamari rings. When there's no shopping, eat. =)
That being the exact thing we had in mind, we went up to capers where we ate spinach ravioli and salmon linguine. Yummy. Besides that i tried to take some belated shots when my moody camera decided its batteries were exhausted. So no shots again...
-----------------I've been meaning to post this for some time. A thought. The song
killing me softly with his song sounds like it's about a lady being
paranoid that this guy knows all abut her, but through further thought it seems to say that "
all love stories are the same." Ahha oldies songs again. You might know this already, but i just discovered it. =)
Ohh, and my new layout was inspired by the song "

boogie to. I was looking for

I re-pierced the other side of my ear again, today. And gosh it really hurt. I waited for half an hour and was the first patient to go in after the doctor's dinner breaks till seven.
When i went into the doctor's room the doctor put the alcohol and she put the stud into the earring-gun thing and she positioned it on my ear.
Then i began to shake uncontrollably, out of fear, but not intentionally.
She made me keep still, and as i stood still she pressed the gun thing and in went the stud. Then pain shot through my ear as my ear began to feel hot.
Ow. It still hurts now. My poor ear must be traumatized. After all, i'm not one that take pain really easily. It's swollen too, but looking on the bright side, at least i have both sides now!
Okay, I'm off now to blog-hop and look at people's updates. =)
Going to kiulap mall with mayanne tomorrow.

hello everyone =) here's a random link or two for you to visit heh -
*bags-artwent out today with ching and camille. Poor ching had been trying to contact me the entire morning, calling me thru her house number and getting camille to sms me. She called four times on her home number and I didn't answer because i thought it was a wrong number thing- i get that frequently.
I remember the time nurul made this random caller mad. We were on our way to maria's house when this random person called. and it went like this.
Me: hello?
Random person (RP): helo, siapa ni?
me: errr...
Then nurul took the phone from me and pretended to be some old malay woman as well.
Nurul:He-lo?
RP:siapa ani?
(went on around four times, then nurul took another strategy. She pretended to be this posh lady and began to speak with a british accent)
Nurul: hello. hello. who IS this?
RP:helo?
Nurul:Who ARE you? Who are you looking for?
RP:mumble-mumble
Nurul: Please do not call this number again, this is a wrong number ,understand?
(shuts phone)
Yes, that is how nurul saved the day and got rid of my "stalker". XD
Then I went to ego to meet up but no one was there yet, so i looked around till this shoplady began to get annoyed and wear the buy-something-or-get-out look.I went out and called Camille, and she said ching had ran out of credit (ooh) and couldn't sms to confirm.
By the time they both came it began to drizzle a bit as we set out to look for the SLR cameras. There were only three shops around gadong so we went round to the places with my little red umbrella. This was really fruitless as there were so few SLR cameras about. The only place that provided means of buying an SLR cam was QQEstore (EEQstore, as my mum calls it) but there were no real models to try out.
When we were by the roadside Ching told me to pose with my red umbrella, then when i was walking/posing there was a honk from a car and Camille saw her dad in his car while we were by the roadside :P so embarassing, wandering about like that- and we were lazy to look for zebra-crossings as well...
you can stand under my umbrella-There was a nice olympus camera at one of the photoshops, it look pro-ish and when you pressed a little button its flash thingy would pop out. It was apparently a digital cam, not an slr but later mum said there are digital SLRs. But anyway the megapixel value was low... (7.1 mp) and the shop people were really blur.
Then we went back to the mall and walked around then went to chill for fries. The guy there must have thought we were nuts when we asked him if we could try all the flavours. It was yummy, though. =)
After that we went to the arcade and watched pros play DDR. =) Then went to centrepoint to wait for ching's mum.
Went to dancing class later to burn of a week's worth of stores. Too much snack around and no exercise. =D Off to sleep now. Going to pierce my ear again tomorrow, the side that closed up. Any idea how long i have been going around with one earring only? Better get it over and done with so i can wear nice earrings. =D

Currently reading a book I borrowed from Weng Jin. Slept over at her place on Saturday and slept at three. Spent time teasing Jo-Yee, our
grandma with seven cats and 20 grandchildren and two hundred kids. (yes, how does she manage?) We both found that Jo Yee says the weirdest things when she is sleepy... and that she is actually a
vampire by night. (not!) In daylight she turns into a wrinkly old grandma.
Nope, not much of anime business last night, we spent our time discussing Vampire Knight and Shiki and Maria Kurenai aka Shizuka(sp?) and Zero and twin. She has the chinese version. Reminds me I must pop by

It's been a really rainy friday again, i stepped into a puddle and in the process wet my polkadot shoes! =(
The morning was fine. Popped by school and sorted out some stuff. Then I went to my grandma's for lunch and met my little cousin. Here's her posing in with a korean drama going "peekaboo!"
cute, right? she has a phobia of tiny black ants. she tried to squish a few with a pillow, and later with a tissue. She's hyper; she chased my sister around with a fly swatter, she wanted to kill every single black ant she saw!
And here's the only place in town where you'll see this sort of thing happening.
I don't know why but I just feel that I should post some jokes to brighten this post up a little more.

A typical day in class. Teacher walks in.
Tch:Class, "jip"(zip) your mouth! You are veli noisee!
Student: Teacher our mouth no jip.
Tch: Use your common sense lahh!
Student: Common sense not in our five senses, teacher!
& there was a case of this four unemployed idiots. (from channy)
Four unemployed idiots decided to start a car repair business. On their first day, they advertised a lot but there were no customers. Why?
They had their shop on the first floor, not on the ground floor.
Then they sold off their business because they weren't earning anything. They bought a taxi but still had no customrers. Why?
They all sat in the taxi and there was no space for customers.
So their car broke down at the foot of a hill. (major uh-oh there) The four idiots tried to push their car but it didn't move. Why?
Two were pushing it back, and two were pushing it forward!

Too much candy gonna rot your soul.On Monday I missed dancing class. There was a heavy downpour and the backdoor immediately started dripping waterfalls of water. The rain was really heavy, the wind really strong, so strong that the windchimes on the backdoor started chiming-
Went out the door to be confronted at the junction by two fallen trees. Several cars came up the hill and were stopped by these two trees. So mum signalled for people to turn into our junction, but some just went over the trees. Then the water started flowing down the hill really quickly, then the tree began to move slowly down the hill towards a lady-driver in her white Lexus. Scary. So my mum backed her car and let the lady in. Fortunately nothing happened there....
In the afternoon Dad took me through the Jalan Tutong road to show the aftermath of the little typhoon. Trees were all over the Ripas side, some decorations for the Sultan's birthday had fallen. The Kiulap centerpiece thing in the middle of the roundabout came apart. Nothing there anymore.
I have photos =) I'll show you guys another time. It's raining heavily again outside, obviously since it's monsoon season...
--------So, what have I done so far for the past few days?
I tried to conduct a little photo-shoot just now. Pathetic, using self timer. They're the last two on my deviantart account.
Besides that, i helped Ching with her layout. Please take a look, I'm happy how it turned out =) She made the lovely banner herself.
