Don't just sit there and say nothing. Leave a message. it appears the links do work :D but i'll leave the quicklink to the cbox here.
why red shoes? It was a ballet. A story but Hans Christian Andersen (don't tell me you don't know him).
It was a story of a girl who wore a pair of red shoes that refused to come off. It made her dance all night and day.
RANDOM-STUFF guilty of blog-surfing.
love this record But I can't see straight anymore. life is a maze, love is a riddle.

School's been unbearable this term, but it's finally over! This term was the showcase concert and sixth form subject choices, mock exams and the deadlines of numerous courseworks (of which some I still haven't finished!) but it's great to have time to watch TV now for 3 hours straight without being bothered by mum. :D
My computer died on me this term. It's not as useful when it's internet router doesn't detect the internet at all. I've been hogging mum's computer since CNY when that happened. Because of this, I've had less time to download more songs. It sucks when Nurul recommends you songs and you can't listen to them.
And Art. This time it's preparation again, but this time I have this really clearly idea of what I want to do for my final piece, but no idea how to show the development towards it.
In the meantime, this holidays, I plan to try to finish off this coursework and still have fun. I wouldn't mind having a fun photo shoot for fun. I'm going to read, maybe and still try to study... oh, and maybe paint my nails :D
Books. Palindromes and Sestinas. I think I'm off to read some Neil Gaiman. ------

Exams are finally over but getting the results will probably be worse. I don't think I thoroughly revised everything, especially maths. I BLAME IT ON THE ELECTRICITY. Try studying maths by candlelight. Not romantic at all.
Last day of school was cool though, we went to Rosie's house and we watched Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging. Finally watched it, the DVD itself has been lying on my study desk since I bought it and it's still in its plastic bag. Eventually I brought it along with me to M'sia for Chinese New Year and watched it again the second time with subtitles on to hear every single thing. (The first time I watched it, there was a running commentary going on- actually more of a debate- on whether Aaron Johnson was hot or not with his high-pitched voice.)
Because of this movie, I've put Toothpaste Kisses on repeat on Windows Media Player. Also, who thinks that Jas looks like Jess, the girl in Yr8 who plays flute in the orchestra?
Chinese New Year was brill but the mosquitoes played tic-tac-toe on my arms and legs again. I'm probably not going to wear shorts out for awhile, because the mosquito bites look like huge red birthmarks. I'm done with unpacking now but I could really use some lazy blog-surfing time right now, and perhaps maybe download a few new songs into my mp3.
Today we put up the christmas tree. It's grown a year's worth of cobwebs while it was stowed away under the sofa in the spare room, so we had to clean it up. In the process of doing so we actually found a few spiderss and some bugs called 'silvertails' that eat books or something(my most hated insect, the antennaes and all.)
I came back from spore yesterday, met syaz and wafi on the flight. It's been five long days in spore, and I'm glad to be back. A lot less walking to do now, don't need to walk to place just for lunch, don't need to take the mrt anymore to go anyplace. I must confess though, this time I wasn't too happy about cd-shopping because I didn't get to go to HMV and That CD Shop didn't have Rachael Yamagata's newest CD and Lenka and The Pierces. However, I found Yael Naim :) and because I dragged my mum along she thinks well of this shop too because she bought more CD's than I did.
I must show you that song that made me want an album by the Pierces.
Yeah, it's from gossip girl. I don't think I watch Gossip Girl for the storyline, I watch it more for music and the clothes, because they have inspiring style. So, what are you guys doing for Christmas?
I watched House Bunny yesterday and found it to be one of the pinkest movies I've seen awhile. The cast of sorority girls, including Kat Dennings (of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist) Rumer Willis (of PerezHilton.com fame) and Katherine McPhee are pretty funny, all of them insecure and don't know how to handle boys. One of the highlights of the movie was the makeover. Don't you love it when they do makeovers in shows, like in St.Trinian's? The house bunny herself is so silly and perky, I found it hard to laugh at the way she kept misunderstanding things. I especially like the scene where Anna Faris tries to be such a nerd, and fails miserably. It goes to show that it is hard to be a nerd, as hard as it is to be popular.
before.
this movie basically goes hand-in-hand with whatever ideas you have about a blonde's IQ. (which is actually pretty cliched now)
No, I haven't watched Twilight yet, but I will- when Nurul and Ling comes back, then we can all go together. That way, Camille can fall in love with Edward Cullen all over again.
I'm going to spore next week. I'm actually pretty excited but at the same time, while we're abroad, I'll get less homework done. After shopping in spore, there is seriously no way I'm going to spend my nights revising. I know what you're thinking, why am I procastinating now? At the moment, I'm lazy yet I feel that I have to get this revision done, which is pretty ironic.
After all those weddings in Msia, I gained 2 kilos and this weird, painful bulge on my left foot, apparently it's because I put too much weight on one foot while I was wearing heels. (according to my ballet teacher.) But it'll go away, provided I don't wear anymore heels the rest of this holidays.
I was tempted to buy GG the other day, but decided not too, after all it's bothersome having them in disks with only 3 episodes each. I'll wait till this season's over then get a compilation. In the meantime, I'll content myself with spoilers sneak peeks.
PS: nurul, if you're reading this, are you coming back from spore on the 20th at 9pm? if you are we might be on the same flight.
I've been to one wedding so far, one more to go. Tomorrow I'll be travelling to Bintulu, which is closer to Brunei than the place I'm at now. The greatest thing is I'm staying at my uncle's place now in Sarikei and there is actually Internet here. The only thing is now I'm sneaking onto blogger to post, when I'm supposed to be amusing my younger cousins- Jason (8) and Valarie (7). I haven't done any Geo yet. And it's the holidays, but this morning I had to wake up at 7am for kolomee. Can't wait to get home and sleep in.
And this post should be dedicated to Joan as well, who just turned sixteen too! (Joan is one of the people I ask for fashion advice from, she's VERY fashion savvy. :D) Now we've had two succesful surprise parties under our belt, and it was so good that she didn't even suspect anything. Again, we embarassed ourselves when we tried taking a group photo again. The waitress didn't know how to take photos, so we ended up with funny close ups.
the weather here has been... unpredictable. I was anticipating that it'd be pretty cold, because last summer when we came down here it was really-really cold, and they called it late summer, i.e. still spring. But now it's spring and yet the weather has been bright and sunny when the weather people predicted there would be rain. Over the past week the weather has deteriorated, though. Only yesterday then i decided i had to take photos for art, and boy did they turn out really disgusting and quite bland. (compare that with my latest deviations on deviantart, those were taken on the first day.) And today, the rain they were expecting just came(as i'm am typing this blog post, stray bits of rain are falling on my aunt's front lawn.)
but anyway. why am I ranting about the weather? I'm bored, seriously, I am. I've got so much to do though! I haven't geared up for school yet. My composition is half-way done, I left the rest of it in a pendrive at home! The only thing I've done is literally study for bio and read three books that my aunt recommended. I've read, Remember me? by Sophie Kinsella, Unpolished Gem by Alice Pung and Girls of Riyadh by Rajaa Alsanea. All great books. I can't be bothered to review now, though. Ask me if you're really wondering and I'll just tell you.
Today is actually my last whole day spent in Australia. Just one more sleep and I'll be back to the hot and humid Brunei! Okay, back to art.
------------ Whoa i just realised that I haven't blogged about my birthday! Basically it was one birthday I'd remember for ages as it was both sweet and very embarassing at the same time! In tutor, I told Lorena that I was turning sixteen, she went hOMG and told Nestor. Then in turn, both of them informed every single person in tutor that it was my birthday, and they weren't allowed to pass unless they had said happy birthday to me first! hahaha :D
Later the Nurul got this party hat and made me wear it during maths, but I didn't. This was a decision I regretted later because they made me wear it on my head to the canteen, where random people stopped me and asked if it was my birthday! (embarassing!)
On the way to tutor, Alexia delibrately mentioned in front of everyone who passed that it was my birthday today! Mr Lopez threatened to tell everyone in class that it was my birthday, if i didn't 'scream' but unfortunately everyone ALREADY knew. :) But i got through it though, never in my whole sixteen years have that many people known that it was my birthday! Thanks guys. :)
you’ve got yesterday’s heroes in last night's clothes

School's next week, still a lot to do, and not much done- I've got to rewrite and add some more bits to my geo coursework and my Sibelius doesn't work. :(
Also, today's the day we get our science results(+ foreign chinese). It didn't work at 1pm, it only worked at about 6pm. Even with the delay, I still haven't got my bio results yet. It makes me scared, because I didn't do as well as I expected in my last Bio exam. Other than that, the results I did get were satisfactory and I'm very happy about it.
Today I finished the book 'The Host' by Stephanie Meyer. It's a really sweet love story, yet it feels like science fiction at the same time. Somehow, just by reading it, it made me feel really upset- humans living with no future, which is a pretty scary prospect.
It talks about Earth, taken over by parasite souls that live in people to colonize them. When the souls go into the human(host), usually the host's real soul dies. However this particular girl refuses to die and the soul ends up with all her memories and begins to fall in love with her host body's human lover. This is when things start to go wrong, the soul and the host body(Melanie) both go in search for the man they both love.
First things first, LEE CHONG WEI has to win men's singles in badminton and China has got to stop the mind-numbing cheerings of 加油, it's unsettling and upsetting :( He's returning rather feeble shots, oh dear. olympics is getting to me, sorry. :)
I just got back from KK, I think it was a great experience :D WON in the 2 categories that I joined :D, so very happy. Sutera Harbour's a lovely place, the hotel rooms are pretty comfy, and the bathroom has a tub and a shower area- with shutters as well! There have fantastic landscaping and stuff, food's not bad either. They have cable tv, but somehow no live Olympics broadcast- tomorrow rhythmic gymnastics will start, i think.
it's half-term now, finally. we had the yr13's farewell assembly thing today, and they sang the great escape and threw their ties and bags and bits of paper into the air in celebration. Quite funny, actually. There was a soloist guy who sang this really jazzy piece, and camille's sister and another girl sang as well.
it's half-term yet there'll still be tons to do. Geo coursework and english essays, art coursework and revision for chem as well as physics. Big lots of work, but i'm all set with a new book to start the entire week off. Teenvogue is not out yet, what a shame. Put three new deviations into deviantart. oh, and DAVID COOK won!
Mum's birthday today. :D contemporary japanese photography. subject: flowers
I love it when the long weekends come, because I can just laze around reading magazines, but the downside is when I have to rush to finish all my homework on the last day, just before school the next day.
I watched 27 dresses yesterday (yes, I am behind in the movie scene) and got to see all the hideous 27 dresses. Makes you wonder why they have ugly bridesmaid dresses like that. To make the bride look prettier, or to create an fanciful unnecessary eyesore you can never wear again?
Quote: ‘oh, good, you can shorten it and wear it again.’
Jane Nichols never does that, she keeps hers in her closet. 27 dresses and counting, she can never close her wardrobe. She has a fetish for weddings- no, she is not a wedding planner. She just loves being the one ordering the cakes the dresses organizing the whole thing. Love comes in the form of a cynical guy who will, most eventually change her fate, and stop her from wearing another hideous bridesmaid gown. Disaster strikes, when her sister returns from New York and falls in love with her boss (whom jane has a crush on as well) then plans to have a wedding- which Jane will organize (because she CANnot say no).
Her sister plays the part very well- annoying and careless and a tattletale, making stuff up as she goes along. I loved the slideshow, so sarcastic. The script itself reflects her sister’s shallowness and childish conception of love- ‘from the beginning TESS and GEORGE were meant for each otherblah-blah…
I can’t understand why Jane adores her boss, he looks rather old for her. Oh, and the guy who saves her from her 28th dress is Patrick Marsden, the utterly gay-looking prince from Enchanted. Oh, and he also acted in Hairspray- CORNY COLLINS! He looked noticeably better in this film, goes to show what a world of difference a good haircut can make.
i watched the hari kebangsaan dance thing this morning, the theme is tunas bangsa or something, i suppose the rainbow was supposed to reflect the different cultures in brunei. very colourful this year. did you see the little kids in silver dancing? so cute, but they were rather messy when they ran.
…and my wish was granted =) I’m having fun. i've been here for two days now, almost. I'm currently at my uncle's house, who has an internet connection- which is unavailable in my grandparent's, whom i'm staying with.
I've had time to catch up with my two little cousins, valarie and jason... both studying in sarikei. I discovered that Valarie's ears are so small that they can barely fit a earphone inside! oh, and have i mentioned her favourite song is 'Lollipop' by Mika? :D
it's chinese new year tomorrow. i hope i can go on somemore after this. The angpao's are here, but i have yet to open them. think of them as 'christmas' presents. :) oh, and how was casual clothes day? it sucks knowing what you'll wear, but not being able to be there....
HAPPY NEW YEAR! :) don't know how many of you were at the empire fireworks, but judging by the queue to empire, the whole brunei gathered there last night.
i've returned from my holidays, suffering a slight bit of jet lag making me sleep earlier. Spent last night watching the fireworks from another point with some church friends, but didn't do any countdowns until the fireworks were over. (which was really quite laggy)
went home and slept, this morning did a spot of spring cleaning and unpacking the stuff. honestly, haven't done so much cleaning in awhile, so i'm on my computer now to take a break.
why don't you view this slideshow and see how other parts of the world ushered in the new year? as ling says, this year is the sweet sixteen year.
Christmas was a rather hot day, and we stayed in most of the day. The notorious dinner affair was held the night before, the only thing to look forward to were the presents. I haven’t decided what to get yet for Christmas, so I’ll think about it and get it whenever I think of it.
I’m going back to brunei soon, tomorrow is the last day, I’ll be returning home 31st. I don’t want to go home, I want to stay here. The month did pass really quickly, and I’m afraid of going back to school and facing more school work, most of all anxious about the science GCSE exams results.
I really don’t know what I achieved this holiday, what I’ve wanted to do I’ve done by a bare minimum. I’ve only gone halfway through my photography book, I haven’t done a new blog layout, nor have I done many sketches whatsoever. I haven’t taken many photos, or learnt how to cook…
The only thing I’ve succeeded in doing is having some retail therapy- shopping and RELAXING.
The first few days of this holiday had me whining about not going out, partly due to the fact dad is dead set against not shopping because Australia is expensive.. blah..blah. I’ve actually managed to worm my way out of all that, I’m happy to say, I did manage to cross out some items on my shopping list.
Funny how I’ve actually confessed I have a shopping list.
Next, I’ve read several books this holidays, but I HAVE NOT FINISHED MY CHINESE BOOK. I have a hundred plus pages more and this is due in a week, oh dear. I’ve occupied my time with three books. Neil gaiman, and this book called woman in white, and another which title escapes me.
I really don’t want to get back to school. At least I have another week to catch up on homework.
Recently a new train route has been opened, now connecting Perth to Mandurah on this 1 hour plus ride. Because of this there was a grand opening and so the rides were free, so of course many took the opportunity to go on the train down to mandurah.
But unfortunately you don’t have much to do down in Mandurah unless you’re a bit of a surfer chick. We got on the train and went all the way down, had fish and chips at a nearby stall and went home the same way. This trip occupied almost the whole afternoon due to the queues everywhere. Overall, a sticky and unpleasant experience, probably bound to change when they set ticket fees for the trip.
I have news, CHRISTMAS COMES AN HOUR EARLIER here! :D I get my presents earlier, but I haven’t decided what to get yet… I wonder if asking for an SLR this year is a bit too much? It’s probably the only thing that I really want and can’t really save up to get with my own pocket money. It’s not the same sort of thing with clothes and books and chocolate, but still.
Tomorrow is likely to be a busy day, but I’m still going to stay up late and do the countdown to Christmas. WILLL ANYONE come online?! Or is everyone appearing offline? ;) you know who you are.
somehow i find this picture a little funny. (from deviantart)
I realise I haven’t posted for quite some time now, so I’m here to update. Today is the first day of Ramadhan, when the muslims begin their fasting. It felt like a Saturday or a Friday, even because of the holiday feel.
I went to my grandma's for lunch and met my younger guy cousin who's still in chms. He got every single one of my books from last year (he's a year younger than me), so he got to see all the drawings I drew when I was bored. According to him,he deduced that the more I drew on the book the more boring the class was. Sad, to say, that was quite true, because back in my other school a lot of classes were way boring. For example in mib class I practiced drawing eyes and got found out by the teacher who showed it to the entire class.
And he told me a lot about chms, that my dancing teacher is leaving, a new Chinese orchestra teacher came to Brunei to teach. And also that he is now a volleyball and track and field pro. Ahaha so proud of my cousin =)
After lunch we went shopping and I stocked on a supply of mars bars. And while I was at it I saw this entire rack full of flowers. So for some reason I was instantly hit by the gardening bug, and I decided to plant some flowers and see if I was green-fingered at all.
I bought the following flowers: Fairy Rose Miniature rose bushes bearing white to pale pink, sweet-scented, semi-double blooms free flowering and has subtle shades. Prefers warm and high humidity.
And I noted on the packet that I takes 7 weeks for it to germinate, almost two months! In bold letters below the description, BE PATIENT, germination CAN take weeks. If it turns out pretty, i guess i'll be willing to wait.
4 o'clock this one, according to the packet 'flowers open in late afternoon, remain open all night and usually close before noon the next day. ' I think this flower was special because of that, so i'm going to try planting this. Germination takes 7 days, the full height of the plant will be 60cm.
the next was a combination of several hardy, sun loving and brilliantly coloured flowers tolerant to hot and dry conditions. Zinnias Marigolds Asters sunflowers and a number of surprises. these will take a varied time to germinate.
Oh, and the neighbour's cat gave birth to little kittens- the special ones being the white coloured blue-eyed ones. there are three of that sort and two that are butterscotch coloured. I'll post the pictures from my sis' camera. *images found off google image search
i'm never gonna stop the rain by complaining -------Raindrops keep falling on my head
School is coming nearer and nearer! sis says aha this is your last weekend off school! this morning i wrapped every single one of my books half-heartedly while singing away to my new cd. Okay. i'm a bit off concentrating now and i'm just wondering how the first day of school is going to be like. Obviously i have to bring everything just in case.
in case i have pe, i must bring my pe bag. in case i get a strict teacher, i must bring everything needed to be on the safe side.
it's not good to get scolded on the first day of school.
it is fun to explore new rooms around and search for different rooms again. And there are clueless new students wandering about. Back on the day when i was a new student it wasn't anything out of particular, it wasn't as bad as i imagined. Everyone said hi to me and asked me what i thought of the school. I remember getting lost while trying to get to P block for english.
oh yes, first day of school is another repitetion of my first day of school. only this time i'll have friends who'll be in the same boat. At least i know which block is which.
-----------------------------
i went to school yesterday and saw a huge crowd around the drama room as mum was circling about looking for a parking space. Then this huge crowd began to move towards the sixth form block. aha. showing new students around the school.
I got my books in the drama room. There were blue packages on the ground and there was one with my name on. Year 10- Rachel Wong. Year 10. I don't know why up till now it hasn't sunken into my head that i'm going to be in year 10 already. I keep calling the year 11 the year 10s and my classmates -the year 9s.
Then after that i went to miri. Came back at nine, there was a heavy downpour and there were a lot of jams along the way, especially down seria. Then sis slept around the tutong stretch to the highway in muara and i took pictures of her sleeping with her mouth open on mum's mobile.
There was a really bad accident around the highway- the muara stretch and there was a car sort-of wrapped around the tree. Many people parked their cars and got off to look as though it was some road-side pasar malam thing. I hope the person is alright. The car seemed like a proton.
Okay. Moooviing on to happier things. I'm happy i've got books to read now, i'm a little nervous about the first day of school. So. I end this mega-long post with pictures of hybrid dogs. (no kidding.)
Schnauzer + Poodle = Schnoodle
Cocker Spaniel + Poodle = Cockapoo
Pomeranian + Chihuahua = Pomchi (This breed is to my taste, i like small cute puppies like these!)
Boston Terrier + Pug = Bug
Labradors + Poodles= Labradoodles and they have goldendoodles as well, golden retrievers and poodle crosses.
links found off msn A-list, found with windows live search, pictures are not mine. From various websites. off to eat lunch now.
hello everyone =) here's a random link or two for you to visit heh -*bags-art
went out today with ching and camille. Poor ching had been trying to contact me the entire morning, calling me thru her house number and getting camille to sms me. She called four times on her home number and I didn't answer because i thought it was a wrong number thing- i get that frequently.
I remember the time nurul made this random caller mad. We were on our way to maria's house when this random person called. and it went like this.
Me: hello? Random person (RP): helo, siapa ni? me: errr...
Then nurul took the phone from me and pretended to be some old malay woman as well.
Nurul:He-lo? RP:siapa ani? (went on around four times, then nurul took another strategy. She pretended to be this posh lady and began to speak with a british accent)
Nurul: hello. hello. who IS this? RP:helo? Nurul:Who ARE you? Who are you looking for? RP:mumble-mumble Nurul: Please do not call this number again, this is a wrong number ,understand? (shuts phone)
Yes, that is how nurul saved the day and got rid of my "stalker". XD
Then I went to ego to meet up but no one was there yet, so i looked around till this shoplady began to get annoyed and wear the buy-something-or-get-out look.I went out and called Camille, and she said ching had ran out of credit (ooh) and couldn't sms to confirm.
By the time they both came it began to drizzle a bit as we set out to look for the SLR cameras. There were only three shops around gadong so we went round to the places with my little red umbrella. This was really fruitless as there were so few SLR cameras about. The only place that provided means of buying an SLR cam was QQEstore (EEQstore, as my mum calls it) but there were no real models to try out.
When we were by the roadside Ching told me to pose with my red umbrella, then when i was walking/posing there was a honk from a car and Camille saw her dad in his car while we were by the roadside :P so embarassing, wandering about like that- and we were lazy to look for zebra-crossings as well...
you can stand under my umbrella-
There was a nice olympus camera at one of the photoshops, it look pro-ish and when you pressed a little button its flash thingy would pop out. It was apparently a digital cam, not an slr but later mum said there are digital SLRs. But anyway the megapixel value was low... (7.1 mp) and the shop people were really blur.
Then we went back to the mall and walked around then went to chill for fries. The guy there must have thought we were nuts when we asked him if we could try all the flavours. It was yummy, though. =)
After that we went to the arcade and watched pros play DDR. =) Then went to centrepoint to wait for ching's mum.
Went to dancing class later to burn of a week's worth of stores. Too much snack around and no exercise. =D Off to sleep now. Going to pierce my ear again tomorrow, the side that closed up. Any idea how long i have been going around with one earring only? Better get it over and done with so i can wear nice earrings. =D
I'm now on my second layout! Did it out of boredom. My first one will be in my archive on store for a rainy day sometime in the future, when I need a change.
Why snowflakes and scratches? Honestly, I don't know, probably because the snowflake brush was lovely and grunge-ish. If not you'd be seeing dandelions again.
Change is good, as in the book, “Who Moved My Cheese.”
Have you read it? I have. One cute book you should read. No heavy reading in this book. It's really thin.
You're probably wondering how I am online, people who I've told about my e-speed problem. Yupp, I’m online, not on Brunet, but on B-mobile. These things all have a penchant for being slow. Internet in Australia is lots faster.
It's been raining lots lately, and my two dogs are now perpetually dirty. And now that my maid is away, I've got to bathe them along with the new maid. She's actually gotten over her phobia of them. What phobia? My doggies bark deafeningly loud. That sums it up and explains it all. Despite that they don't bite, they're not direct descendants of wolves. =)
I'm wishing I were on holiday now. There's really not much to do at home except photoshop and take photos, and look at my books for next August. I'm trying hard to be thankful that though now I don't get to go anywhere, I get to go to Aus at the end of this year. *sigh* 'Tis hard, really.
Mooorrrninnggg. It's nice waking up and seeing comments on your cbox. Big thanks to Camille, Ching and Nurul- the first commentors. You guys make me feel warm and toasty inside. =) Today i shall tell you the extent of my searches for my own domain.
Youu know what? These days hardly anything is FREE. Searching through the internet, you find blah-blah-blah free&easy registration but-you-have-to-pay but it's okay cuz its-a-really-small-amount-five-us-dollars. grr. the silly exchange rates. Then after that i searched for hosts- Brunet? brunei, local-based? Maybe it'd be better...but then i searched and found you need to own a brunet account, and I'm too lazy to create one. You have no idea how many places i registered at. iTopsites, supersized.org, .tk, .cn, blogger, wordpress... (Nurul, if you're reading this, our shared blog is on wordpress.)
Then I downloaded Wordpress 2.2. Big shock, no html, only php... and i can't read php! Year 9 ICT obviously doesn't cover any of this....*sigh* so I went back to blogger, so here I am. Blogspot will be my temporary home for now, until i can find a host. I miss school...
