why red shoes? It was a ballet. A story but Hans Christian Andersen (don't tell me you don't know him).
It was a story of a girl who wore a pair of red shoes that refused to come off. It made her dance all night and day.
RANDOM-STUFF guilty of blog-surfing.
love this record But I can't see straight anymore. life is a maze, love is a riddle.

first impression, UGH my brain shut down towards the end of the paper. couldn't tell what device was being used on the piano Grisabella the Glamour Cat in AOS#4(tremolo i'm guessing) the african section was so very-very hard. what is an idiophone, membranophone, chordophone and aerophone? just googled it. and so wikipedia says:
Hornbostel-Sachs (or Sachs-Hornbostel) is a system of musical instrument classification devised by Erich Moritz von Hornbostel and Curt Sachs, and first published in the Zeitschrift für Ethnologie in 1914. An English translation was published in the Galpin Society Journal in 1961. It is the most widely used system for classifying musical instruments by ethnomusicologists and organologists (people who study musical instruments).
definitely not in the syllabus. click here to find out more on this instrument classification. there was a nice song though. Thank goodness for brit-pop in the listening paper. temporary relief- everyone felt the beat. it's by BLUR- it's called Song 2. It's just one of those exams when you walk out and begin to doubt that you put down anything correct on the paper. Hit or miss. on a happier note, BYE GCSE MUSIC! :D I'm back to listening to music without bothering about instrumental techniques and devices.
if you think adam lambert is cool because he can sing in falsetto, check out this guy.
no, he is not lip-syncing. he does it with an effortless falsetto. Now I remember how they make men's voices stay high. look at this comment on the video:
somegirlonthefloor(4 hours ago) He is amazing, there have been people who could sing that high before (men) but usually back when men got castrated (balls got chopped off) before their voice broke so they could sing high. They dont do this anymore but damn I hope he has his balls.

I'm finally on the internet on my own computer! :D For about two months now I've been using dad's spare computer because my laptop could not detect the wireless connection at home. I got it sent to the repair shop last friday, and it turns out the motherboard's broken and it will cost $700+ to get it replaced. (which is not really worth it, because a USB wireless router is $38) So we got the wireless router instead, which is much better. occasionally, though, my computer whites-out on me. It just goes blank and you can see those rainbow lines running vertically down the screen.
So, I've got the computer up and running, downloaded Limewire and got songs :D It's been raining pretty heavy this weekend and songs by Priscilla Ahn are great companions for dreary days like these.
I'm in a pretty good mood because my music composition is finished, so is my stats coursework that has been driving me up the wall. I can only hope that my stats stuff fulfilled all the criteria, because the Mr A didn't help us that much. (i could elaborate, but maybe not.)
As for art, I've got the gears I want for my final piece, so all I have to do is take photos for the final piece :D I've been lacking in observational drawings as well, so this weekend's been a real productive one, considering I've finished two drawings and drawn four more to paint.
Download this song: She and Him- Blackhole. The 'She' in this band is the actress Zooey Deschanel. Didn't know she sang, but she's a lot better than Scarlett Johanssen, or so the critics say.
Tomorrow's physics test, is coincidentally about Black Holes and miscellanous constellations. Gotta go study, since this doesn't really involve application of concepts or logic, just memorising.
Went to watch Bride Wars yesterday to 'celebrate not going to Mulu.' There was one song that stood out in the entire soundtrack- it's Dream by Priscilla Ahn. I have recently had this small thing for folk, so this is currently top on my playlist.
Here's another song I like, it's called the Boob Song, it sounds scandalous but it's not. As the singer puts it, 'it's about someone else's boobs.' Love how it sounds jazzy with the double bass and the funny instrument she plays.
I think I've finished the designs for V-day cards. Thank goodness no DOE this weekend, it's been especially rainy. (now i have time to do my work and bum around a bit too.) Apparently the road on the way to Mulu is flooded so even if we went on with the trip it would have to be cancelled. VDAY NEXT WEEK!
Last week was a long week. It's still not over yet. Last week I handed in my first music composition, after being given an extension, but it still needs more work. Last week was the first time I had got sick in ages. It was over the 'best time' ever. The day before the social, I got a running nose, because my physics teacher sneezed in my direction in physics, so I caught the bug. (it doesn't matter who he is, but he should get a bio lesson on pathogens.) That explains why I didn't go to the social. I had a chem test as well to study for, so I probably wouldn't have gone either if I had been well.
Last Saturday I played in the empire for the prince charles' visit, but only saw the dutchess. We were there from 8 in the morning till 2pm. Got tired and really hungry from the whole thing. She only stopped briefly to talk to Mr E and under direction from Miss Sumich I managed to get a photo of it. Everytime she sees me now she keeps saying thanks :D I heard them(miss chen and ms sumich) showing off and comparing photos with mr thin who tried to take some as well.
tomorrow is ching's b'day. Aren't you lucky. After being reluctant to play on your birthday, your wish has come true, tomorrrow's thingy is cancelled, so means classes as usual, but no orchestra :) This week is going to be hectic. A bio and geo test on wednesday, along with orchestra practices and dancing practices. And I need shoes.
I think you should watch this video, I find it amusing. I do this sometimes in the car when I'm waiting for my mum while she goes to the atm or the grocery store and I have to wait in the car. hahaha.
yesterday I got curious about the current developments in gossip girl, so I read a couple of spoilers on the last episodes I had missed, and was shocked to find that NATE and JENNY are together?! nevermind. (sorry to anyone who read this spoiler too.)
Joan, here's an article on a lady who cut her hair short and donated it to Locks of Love.
if the golden train came to take you away, would you go or would you stay?

A shoutout to Justin Nozuka who turns 20 today :) IF you DONT listen to his music, you really should. mira, we share. and it's 20 haha. I know i posted later than you, but still it's the thought that counts. hhehe :)
First things first, LEE CHONG WEI has to win men's singles in badminton and China has got to stop the mind-numbing cheerings of 加油, it's unsettling and upsetting :( He's returning rather feeble shots, oh dear. olympics is getting to me, sorry. :)
I just got back from KK, I think it was a great experience :D WON in the 2 categories that I joined :D, so very happy. Sutera Harbour's a lovely place, the hotel rooms are pretty comfy, and the bathroom has a tub and a shower area- with shutters as well! There have fantastic landscaping and stuff, food's not bad either. They have cable tv, but somehow no live Olympics broadcast- tomorrow rhythmic gymnastics will start, i think.
last week's chem exam was hard. the empirical formula question was worth a whopping 4 marks, with 4 different values in one. It's the formula of phosgenite. (PB2CL2CO3- lead chlorocarbonate)
I've tried the new lenses to go with my cam now :D i shall bring it around to places as soon as i get a hang of it. It's pretty heavy.
AND X-MAKEENA. man, they were cool. two guys taught us how to make the sound of the drums so now i can make the sound of the drums without using anything, just my mouth. The guy there could even make the sound of a trumpet. He pretended to play it using his mic with the three buttons. so yaz said to mr edgeler, 'imagine sir, how many years you spent learning the trumpet.' haha just to get a good tone, and this guy can just do it without the instrument. he could also make the sound of a double bass, bass guitar and electric guitar. he could make the sound of those squeaky kids' shoes, pretty cool :D for celebrities they're pretty nice. so patient with all of us while we were trying to make the sounds and ended up blowing raspberries. the guy in red was one of the two who taught us, there was another guy as well with an afro-ish do. taken from tasteofindie.com the brunei times came to interview them and take photos of the workshop thing, so keep an eye out for the article. tomorrow's physics. one more, then no more exams :D
paolo nutini and his soulful music. last.fm is pretty good, it's got tons of artists. not one indie artist i search for is missing from their list. first day back to school. no denying the teachers also miss their holidays- mr airdrie couldn't set a single question without weird answers, so he made us do questions from our textbook instead. oh, and one more thing. The designer Yves Saint Laurent died yesterday.
stumbled upon these fancy guitars while researching on an artist.
Misery Under Gold. "It's about wealth and poverty. It's about London. At one end of a street there are Ferraris, at the other end people have nothing to eat."

Electric Circus.
Cubist Cool ADAM HARGREAVES!! :D mr happy and little miss sunshine
I love it when the long weekends come, because I can just laze around reading magazines, but the downside is when I have to rush to finish all my homework on the last day, just before school the next day.
I watched 27 dresses yesterday (yes, I am behind in the movie scene) and got to see all the hideous 27 dresses. Makes you wonder why they have ugly bridesmaid dresses like that. To make the bride look prettier, or to create an fanciful unnecessary eyesore you can never wear again?
Quote: ‘oh, good, you can shorten it and wear it again.’
Jane Nichols never does that, she keeps hers in her closet. 27 dresses and counting, she can never close her wardrobe. She has a fetish for weddings- no, she is not a wedding planner. She just loves being the one ordering the cakes the dresses organizing the whole thing. Love comes in the form of a cynical guy who will, most eventually change her fate, and stop her from wearing another hideous bridesmaid gown. Disaster strikes, when her sister returns from New York and falls in love with her boss (whom jane has a crush on as well) then plans to have a wedding- which Jane will organize (because she CANnot say no).
Her sister plays the part very well- annoying and careless and a tattletale, making stuff up as she goes along. I loved the slideshow, so sarcastic. The script itself reflects her sister’s shallowness and childish conception of love- ‘from the beginning TESS and GEORGE were meant for each otherblah-blah…
I can’t understand why Jane adores her boss, he looks rather old for her. Oh, and the guy who saves her from her 28th dress is Patrick Marsden, the utterly gay-looking prince from Enchanted. Oh, and he also acted in Hairspray- CORNY COLLINS! He looked noticeably better in this film, goes to show what a world of difference a good haircut can make.
i watched the hari kebangsaan dance thing this morning, the theme is tunas bangsa or something, i suppose the rainbow was supposed to reflect the different cultures in brunei. very colourful this year. did you see the little kids in silver dancing? so cute, but they were rather messy when they ran.
I’ve got my wellies for the DOE trip. I’ve asked many people about the DOE trip, so I basically know what to expect. It shouldn’t be so difficult this time, except for the LEECHES, still and the hot days and the filtered sour water and the allergies and the hotness and the cooking-yourself-dinner thing. Yes. I can’t help being a worry wart at times.
My sister has something to say, yet again. She says that her Maths teacher is DEFINITELY CHINESE because he says whole as ‘whorrlll’, class as ‘craasss. ’
“CRAASS, PREASE FINED THE PLIMME NUMBBRR ORFF CHELFF.”
I’m over-emphasizing it, but apparently it’s like that. Oh, and his name is Mr ‘RIMM.’ IT makes me think of phua chu kang, and the singlish he speaks. All the ‘lahs,’ ‘bahs’ and ‘mahs.’
Speaking of PCK, the Singapore music trip hasn’t received a very good response, so far the numbers of people total to THREE. That’s very little. Looks like there isn’t much hope of the trip being on, or people are just taking their time… unless it was like that as well, last year. Goes to show perhaps making the lightning hit the same spot again (and organizing a great trip) is a difficult thing to do. As with sequels of movies, they never turn out as good as the original movie.
Listen to this song. It’s a little old, but likewise still good.
Vertigo by Jump, Little Children Leaning from the balcony As if without a care Wondering should I take the fall Or should I take the stairs
Have I already fallen over and now spinning in the air I don't know Cause I'm in this vertigo
Round and round Carousel Has got you under its spell Moving so fast But going nowhere
So when will this end it goes on and on Over and over and over again Keep spinning around I know that it won't stop Till I step down from this for good
Up and down The ferris wheel Tell me how does it feel To be so high Looking down here Is it lonely? Lonely?
did the clown make you smile he was only your fool for awhile but now, he's gone back home and left you wandering there
extracts from songs on carnivals. idyllic places, they seem to be. they evoke a feeling of peace. I've often wondered how'd it be like to go visit one. i'd love to visit a proper one. selected artists from deviantart and their works.
i think i've got to go study now. enough of norah jones.
Caught in a vision i want to deny As if floating on a lumpy pillow sky Caught up in the whole illusion That dreams never pass us by Came to a tattoed conclusion When I look in the mirror Tracing lines with a pencil ----norah jones
go norah jones! =) at least my parents don't object to her jazzy tones! (oops, random post) its been a relatively okay week so far. Except that i don't think i can go to the Sydney trip, i have my ABRSM piano theory =( so no trip for me.... and also the art teacher has been moody again. my opinionated chinese teacher thinks that poets and authors and artists are extra sensitive people, they tend to get emo easily as they need it for their great works. being entirely non-emo is not exactly that good, because you have no inspiration, of somewhat. that is why when you are depressed, you tend to be able to write better. odd.
The song maria sang, the one i mentioned in my previous post.
"Lighthouse" Take what you need while there's time The city will be earth in a short while If I'm not mistaken it's been in flames You and I will escape to the seaside
There is a storm in the distance The wind breathing warning of its imminence There is a lighthouse five hundred yards down You and I will be safe there
There is a girl who haunts that lighthouse She saved me, I was swimming So young I almost drowned Under the water she sang a story Of losing her lover She calls a warning
Love, you are foolish, you're tired Your sleeplessness makes you a liar The city is burning The ocean is turning Our only chance is the lighthouse
Her lover was a sailor She went and she waited there The door locked from the outside Lover never arrived so she sings there Soft as a siren luring the ships off their course, how alarming
We went in, we climbed up and looked out The door locked from the outside Three ghosts in a lighthouse

ends suddenly. The song is a little creepy, come to think of it. Despite that it is quite dreamy. the direct link is here. The video is actually just a slideshow.
Don’t it always seem to go That you don't know what you’ve got ‘Til it's gone -Joni Mitchell, Big Yellow Taxi
these are one of the oldie songs i listen to. I heard this in a supermarket just today, so i thought i'd post these lyrics. Honestly, i didn't think i'd be able to get through this week with all the things we needed to do - english speech, dt stuff and art stuff, and several others. But wait- here i am, sitting down, typing away.
A few classic oldies: Raindrops keep falling on my head rhythm of the rain *errr. when i think of more i'll post =)
Kate Miller-Heidke, a new Brisbane artist. Trained as an opera singer as well. A very different style she has. The song is titled "Words."

Now for my very first book review. I've recently finished this book entitled "Special Topics in Calamity Physics by Marisha Pessl.
It's not about physics. It's about a girl named Blue van Meer who uncovers secrets of those around her, and in the process has several life-changing experiences.
She finds her teacher, in the beginning of the book hung from an electrical cord. Her former friends, the Bluebloods blame her because they think she killed their teacher due to the fact that she was there.
So the book tells of Blue's story of how she came to know the teacher and the Bluebloods, and her dealings with them and how she came to solve he mystery in the end. Oh, and should i mention her dad was a man prone to having short affairs resulting in her moving from town to town, ending up leaving her with no long-term friendships, making her a lonely person?
The book is rather interesting, the quotations are good (Blue's dad, being a political science professor has a lot of reference books, and Blue uses them to illustrate her thoughts), but the book is really thick- 700 pages! But 700 pages isn't really that long if you enjoy the book! =D
I went to Tasek with my parents and sister, one of those occasional in-frequent trips when i feel really unfit. So, i have been sitting in front of the laptop/computer most of the time, folding my legs underneath me which is supposed to be "bad" for me... and with that I induced knee pain so i spent my time round kiulap yesterday climbing stairs painfully. Now i know how it feels like to be an old person with horrible knee pain.
Oh yes, yesterday's trip was really quite fun, minus the back-street wanderings where weirdos await to ambush unsuspecting people. Chefs peeping out from kitchen peepholes, people hiding round corners. As quoted, GET A LIFE. (harsh.) Mayanne and I wandered about looking for interesting places to go, most of the shops having clothes that fit but did not suit our wallets. So we ended up in Coffeezone with a mocktail and a basket of calamari rings. When there's no shopping, eat. =)
That being the exact thing we had in mind, we went up to capers where we ate spinach ravioli and salmon linguine. Yummy. Besides that i tried to take some belated shots when my moody camera decided its batteries were exhausted. So no shots again...

I've been meaning to post this for some time. A thought. The song killing me softly with his song sounds like it's about a lady being paranoid that this guy knows all abut her, but through further thought it seems to say that "all love stories are the same." Ahha oldies songs again. You might know this already, but i just discovered it. =)
Ohh, and my new layout was inspired by the song "candyman" sung by christina aguilera. A really nice song to dance the boogie to. I was looking for audrey hepburn but found marilyn monroe instead. pix's from deviant-art.
