Don't just sit there and say nothing. Leave a message. it appears the links do work :D but i'll leave the quicklink to the cbox here.
why red shoes? It was a ballet. A story but Hans Christian Andersen (don't tell me you don't know him).
It was a story of a girl who wore a pair of red shoes that refused to come off. It made her dance all night and day.
RANDOM-STUFF guilty of blog-surfing.
love this record But I can't see straight anymore. life is a maze, love is a riddle.

A sixteen year old blogger with a passion for photography, fashion, web design, watercolor paints, good books and music. She would love to travel the world one day and take dozens of photos.
physics today, one more to go! I'm so relieved, no ray diagrams (eventhough I was actually prepared for them this time!) Just stats to go, the only thing remaining between now and prom.
so. I'm not on tv like i would have liked to be. I'm on my sister's computer, hogging it actually because my computer has died on me AGAIN! It switches on but the screen doesn't light up. There goes all the music I downloaded :(
I really need a glossy mag to occupy myself now. Lately I've been hooked on some really random fashion blogs/websites.
but really, it only reminds me of things that i would love to have in my wardrobe. I covet too much. Plus, it's good inspiration for outfits. 90's inspired, vintage and futurist, grunge and rock and roll. the photos are amazing.
gofugyourself.com is the best because of the snazzy way the writer describes celeb fashion faux-pas. the best part is she actually agrees that taylor momsen is taking the grunge trend too far.
see that dress on the frontpage, the 'die another day' dress? I was hoping that I could find a dress like that, about that colour to go with this midnight blue nailpolish I got awhile ago. But no such luck. It's Brunei and they don't sell things like these here.
here's some EYE CANDY. structured dresses from Project Runway winner Leanne Marshall, Fall 09. Inspired by 'the repetitive skyline of (her) new home-base, New York City, and the fantasy of glamour that one has when moving to a big metropolis.'
Something about this colour palette- purples, greys and gold makes me think of Burberry. On the other hand it looks almost sculptural, like Constructivism. [more here.]
Okay. Back to revising two year's worth of stats. One more exam to go, then I'll be able to do nothing all day and perhaps watch Gossip Girl Season 2 and go on facebook and do some art and maybe go out... the list could basically go on.
Today we put up the christmas tree. It's grown a year's worth of cobwebs while it was stowed away under the sofa in the spare room, so we had to clean it up. In the process of doing so we actually found a few spiderss and some bugs called 'silvertails' that eat books or something(my most hated insect, the antennaes and all.)
I came back from spore yesterday, met syaz and wafi on the flight. It's been five long days in spore, and I'm glad to be back. A lot less walking to do now, don't need to walk to place just for lunch, don't need to take the mrt anymore to go anyplace. I must confess though, this time I wasn't too happy about cd-shopping because I didn't get to go to HMV and That CD Shop didn't have Rachael Yamagata's newest CD and Lenka and The Pierces. However, I found Yael Naim :) and because I dragged my mum along she thinks well of this shop too because she bought more CD's than I did.
I must show you that song that made me want an album by the Pierces.
Yeah, it's from gossip girl. I don't think I watch Gossip Girl for the storyline, I watch it more for music and the clothes, because they have inspiring style. So, what are you guys doing for Christmas?
to get myself out of the house (and to cure my boredrom) i went out with mira and syaz today and we ate at cheezbox :D our order was taken by an awfully slow trainee waiter who kept getting the orders wrong. ('milo milk tea with nata de coco?') we managed to shop quite a bit while teasing mira about her rafi. we were like, 'hey, wouldn't it be nice to spot him from here?' Then mira said 'hey, he's in gadong now.' sheer coincidence. :D
Syaz got a slogan shirt that she will wear in front of her 'kerbau' in hopes he will realise... um, things. Mira got flip-flops. despite our attempts to look for nice dresses, it seemed that most of the dresses either had odd finishing touches that messed it up entirely or the wrong fabric, the wrong colour or the price was simply beyond our budget. we went into rock paper scissors again, and found a bunch of little miss shirts :D sadly we didn't buy anything, AGAIN. syaz, we have got to go back there with enough to buy the little miss shirts! you'll get little miss giggles and i'll get little miss trouble.
joan, if you're in brunei, i need to talk to you about the dance classes. ching, i'll talk to you about it when you get back.
PS: i got nail polish today at the face shop :D PPS: mira, remember to do the little miss quiz on facebook PPPS: i got my haircut 2 days ago.
edit: a russian woman kills her husband with a folding bed-couch thing. whoa. [here]
Who? Helmut Newton, born Helmut Neustädter was a German-Australian fashion photographer.
In the 1970’s Helmut Newton came up with the idea of The Newton Machine, a specially made studio to take fashion images without the photographer being present.
“I had a photo-machine built, a camera fitted with a motor and a timer that can be adjusted by the model who can decide whether to work fast or slow. A mirror behind the camera allows the model to check the pose. Before every shot, a bell goes off, and then a strobe light flashes. The whole system is devised to heighten the tension of the modelling session and to catch the model at the peak of each pose. Carefully I explain the system to my models. I tell them, It’s up to you to control the whole sitting, you will decide when to stop, the entire responsibility is with you. Of course the lighting has been set up and a cross where they must stand has been marked on the floor.” Helmut Newton Autobiography Nan A. Talese, Munich, 2002
Topshop have recreated the original 70’s concept in a bespoke photographic studio in Topshop Oxford Circus, Manchester and Dublin to allow you to become the subject, stylist and photographer, all in one. pictures. most of the info taken off wikipedia or the topshop site.
I have never met two people more unwilling to shop than my dad and sis.
They were standing around with grumpy looks around a mega huge clothing store, SUPRE and complaining that they were going to leave without mum and I. Just wait till sis starts begging to share clothes again, or starts moaning that she has no dresses to wear. It’ll all be her fault then. And honestly, Dad’s ordeal was partly his fault as he refused to go into the men’s clothing store when he needs a proper suit that suits him.
Today we went to an art museum, where there were quite a few works on exhibit. The museum had fashion and photography and just normal artsy things like statues, busts, prints, oil paintings, acrylics and several odd works- a fully orange painting and another black canvas with a golden border round it.
the fashion designer was some japanese designer that believed in experimenting with fabrics and creating different silhouttes for women, he designed a couple of dresses for the movie Moulin Rouge, apparently.
The photographer was Roger Ballum whose conceptual black and white works were rather unsettling. They depicted normal people but their expressions were rather creepy. as the gallery went on, the pictures became more chilling and creepy. sis got so scared she decided to stand outside. but honestly, i gave up viewing his scary pictures after awhile and went out to join her. here are several:
the weather here has become increasingly bizarre, there was rain yesterday! (it doesn't usually rain around this time of the year, making bushfires common around december time) it's become hotter and sometimes it's so hot that you can't even sleep at night. in the afternoon it is hot and you get headaches, but you can't sleep because again it's too hot. i guess the only thing you're supposed to do around this time is just christmas shopping as opposed to staying at home and 'chilling.'
I just got back from singapore on Sunday midnight, aka Monday morning. The wee hours of the morning. Shall post the images some other time, when time permits.
Oh, and I’m not a skiver, I’m sick- down with flu due to a late night. I’ve got a hyper-sensitive nose, the least smell of anything makes me sneeze- causing a bloked nose. An irritated throat too. Sucks, I hate being sick…Slept early, woke up slightly cranky. Been doing more art homework, have to study for the chemistry test tomorrow. Was doing research on the internet and decided to look at my friendster—
Then I discovered a gazillion happy b’day comments- a whole about 2 pages from various people- both late and early. I haven’t told anyone how my b’day night went, so I’ll spill.
Not exactly the most glamourous venue but, I spent it at my GRANDMOTHER’S HOUSE. With my cousins and aunties and uncles. I got a cake, a chocolate ice-cream cake, for some reason not exactly the ideal cake I had in mind- soggy and all brown. Nevertheless the chocolate was great. Grandma got a fruit cake or something from the Sheraton. Sounds great and all, but my cake was finished first.
None of my cousins knew it was my b’day until that day. Maybe I should look for that picture of me and my grandma. Oh yeah, and this is to explain why our bdays fell on the first day. Thursday I was going to spore and her bday, on the Chinese calendar fell on thurs 18th of October. So we ended up celebrating it on the same day.
Okay. Now to Singapore. Note that I haven’t been there for over… gulp* 7 years or more? Haha I admit I’m trying to make it seem less drastic, but it sure is true. So this is what I noticed about the people of Singapore.
1) Those around orchard are far trendier. The teenagers and couples and businesspeople hang around this area 2) Singaporean ladies’ choice in clothes. Miniskirts, shorts and a top. Shoes preferably ballet flats for casual wear, extreme high heels when at work. Patent shoes, either red or black, sharp tipped-crocodile style. 3) There is singlish. It exists. Like yellow being pronounced as lellooww 4) It is a forever-busy place.
To summarise this, we spent the whole day shopping, for other items on the shopping list other than clothes, mostly things like metronomes, watches… books =)
Kinokuniya is huge, the photography section is amazing. Borders resembles a library. Could spend the entire day there…
in singapore- so busy shopping till we forgot to eat. Lunch was at about 2-3pm, dinner at 9pm+ then we went back to the hotel- and showered and watched some funny Taiwanese idol thing, till 12. There was no sleeping in at all… breakfast ended at 10, so there was a mad rush downstairs. There were a lot of Indonesian tourists around as well.
Okay. Off to do the thanking-the-people-for-their-bday-comments thing in friendster.
PS: I recommend a sushi place called ‘Koh’s Sushi and Grill’ at ‘food paradise’ in wisma atria. And ‘din tai fung’ for the ‘xiao long pao.’
PPS: big thanks for the presents I got yesterday in school =) thanks to ching-o and Camille, weiwen and ALEXIA the xiao cha bo =)
it's been about four days since i last wrote anything because i haven't found anything of significance to blog about. :)
Let's see, maybe i'll provide links or two?
There are two Shabby Chics.
ShabbyChic- the mall, which is totally different from the other "shabby chic". The one in the mall sells expensive scrapbooking material that i can't easily afford, but anyway i go there once in awhile to look at the nice stuff they have there and the lovely ribbons.
I went to Tasek with my parents and sister, one of those occasional in-frequent trips when i feel really unfit. So, i have been sitting in front of the laptop/computer most of the time, folding my legs underneath me which is supposed to be "bad" for me... and with that I induced knee pain so i spent my time round kiulap yesterday climbing stairs painfully. Now i know how it feels like to be an old person with horrible knee pain.
Oh yes, yesterday's trip was really quite fun, minus the back-street wanderings where weirdos await to ambush unsuspecting people. Chefs peeping out from kitchen peepholes, people hiding round corners. As quoted, GET A LIFE. (harsh.) Mayanne and I wandered about looking for interesting places to go, most of the shops having clothes that fit but did not suit our wallets. So we ended up in Coffeezone with a mocktail and a basket of calamari rings. When there's no shopping, eat. =)
That being the exact thing we had in mind, we went up to capers where we ate spinach ravioli and salmon linguine. Yummy. Besides that i tried to take some belated shots when my moody camera decided its batteries were exhausted. So no shots again...

I've been meaning to post this for some time. A thought. The song killing me softly with his song sounds like it's about a lady being paranoid that this guy knows all abut her, but through further thought it seems to say that "all love stories are the same." Ahha oldies songs again. You might know this already, but i just discovered it. =)
Ohh, and my new layout was inspired by the song "candyman" sung by christina aguilera. A really nice song to dance the boogie to. I was looking for audrey hepburn but found marilyn monroe instead. pix's from deviant-art.
hello everyone =) here's a random link or two for you to visit heh -*bags-art
went out today with ching and camille. Poor ching had been trying to contact me the entire morning, calling me thru her house number and getting camille to sms me. She called four times on her home number and I didn't answer because i thought it was a wrong number thing- i get that frequently.
I remember the time nurul made this random caller mad. We were on our way to maria's house when this random person called. and it went like this.
Me: hello? Random person (RP): helo, siapa ni? me: errr...
Then nurul took the phone from me and pretended to be some old malay woman as well.
Nurul:He-lo? RP:siapa ani? (went on around four times, then nurul took another strategy. She pretended to be this posh lady and began to speak with a british accent)
Nurul: hello. hello. who IS this? RP:helo? Nurul:Who ARE you? Who are you looking for? RP:mumble-mumble Nurul: Please do not call this number again, this is a wrong number ,understand? (shuts phone)
Yes, that is how nurul saved the day and got rid of my "stalker". XD
Then I went to ego to meet up but no one was there yet, so i looked around till this shoplady began to get annoyed and wear the buy-something-or-get-out look.I went out and called Camille, and she said ching had ran out of credit (ooh) and couldn't sms to confirm.
By the time they both came it began to drizzle a bit as we set out to look for the SLR cameras. There were only three shops around gadong so we went round to the places with my little red umbrella. This was really fruitless as there were so few SLR cameras about. The only place that provided means of buying an SLR cam was QQEstore (EEQstore, as my mum calls it) but there were no real models to try out.
When we were by the roadside Ching told me to pose with my red umbrella, then when i was walking/posing there was a honk from a car and Camille saw her dad in his car while we were by the roadside :P so embarassing, wandering about like that- and we were lazy to look for zebra-crossings as well...
you can stand under my umbrella-
There was a nice olympus camera at one of the photoshops, it look pro-ish and when you pressed a little button its flash thingy would pop out. It was apparently a digital cam, not an slr but later mum said there are digital SLRs. But anyway the megapixel value was low... (7.1 mp) and the shop people were really blur.
Then we went back to the mall and walked around then went to chill for fries. The guy there must have thought we were nuts when we asked him if we could try all the flavours. It was yummy, though. =)
After that we went to the arcade and watched pros play DDR. =) Then went to centrepoint to wait for ching's mum.
Went to dancing class later to burn of a week's worth of stores. Too much snack around and no exercise. =D Off to sleep now. Going to pierce my ear again tomorrow, the side that closed up. Any idea how long i have been going around with one earring only? Better get it over and done with so i can wear nice earrings. =D
Good morning again. =) The e-speed was down so I had to use the brunet dial-up, which was painfully slow compared to e-speed, which i am now used to, so I didn't get to update much yesterday. Today I'll introduce you to a accessories shop.
This shop sells all sorts of accessories- the big chunky sort, chains, bracelets and necklaces, all chosen by the owner of this establishment from Hongkong and with some handmade pieces from the Ibans and Cambodia, and some pendants made by artists from Taiwan. Here are some pictures...
Youngish bracelets.
Semicircle Earrings
An ordinary white bead bracelet enhanced with golden hoops round it.
A very different necklace.
Mosaic bracelets
Stuff made by the Ibans
Earrings- there were peacock earrings here
Bright, big earrings
Even a heart locket! =)
A closer look. You can put stuff into it- really neat. It's held together by a magnet.
So, where is this shop?
All the contact details are above. =) Photoshopped advertisement by me. Now, will you go take a look? Do not enter without at least 20 dollars in hand- you'll probably leave with more than one article of jewellery at hand. =)
Me and my mum had some mother-daughter time at the mall yesterday. It was quite fun, but both of us had different agendas. Mine for clothes, hers for shoes.
She ended up dragging me to look for new shoes for school. First we went to Pretty Fit, then Cartino Sonea.
Pretty Fit has seriously nice shoes, but has less choice- Cartino Sonea for girls only shoes.
What's in fashion now, for shoes? In my opinion, these are the ones-(based on what i saw)
wedges
ballet flats
And in what style?
Stretchy ballet flats-
& it's all about comfiness.
Awhile back I had a nice friend who told me I had good shoes taste =) hehe
But here comes something really embarassing... I tried on a nice shoes with a stretchy band at the back- then I put my shoes in and stretched the band back, and it snapped!
In shock I called the saleslady over, she picked it up while I stood up and stared. She went over to her boss and asked "Kenapa?" (Why?) and the boss snapped. "Jangan soal kenapa" (don't ask why) then i was going to ask if i had to pay or not, but the saleslady went to the back of the shop and vanished from view....
Cuz usually when you break stuff, you have to pay, right? Surprisingly I didn't have to, but I think I'm on the lady's blacklist.... =S
Okay, that's all. Products of yesterday's shopping trip- 2 pairs of new shoes! =)
